Barrie<\/p>\n<p>Today, I am wondering where my mind went.<\/p>\n<p>I nearly forgot to do this blog post.\u00a0 How is that possible?\u00a0 I know I have to do a daily blog post.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve done one, day after day, for months.\u00a0 Nearly six months now.\u00a0 And, today, it is only by accident, it seems, that there will be something appearing.<\/p>\n<p>I thought of it several times yesterday.\u00a0 I had a couple of topics in mind.<\/p>\n<p>And then. . .I forgot.<\/p>\n<p>This is a somewhat disturbing trend.<\/p>\n<p>Definitely something to wonder about\u2014where my mind went.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, one could wonder about the equally amazing phenomenon that nearly the first thing I thought of when I awoke\u2014<em>far<\/em> too early this morning\u2014was <em>OMG! I never did my blog post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Memory is a strange thing.<\/p>\n<p>An odd tightrope.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, it seems like the more you put into it the more it can hold.\u00a0 When I am very, very busy with multiple projects and hundreds of details, I can often track them like a bloodhound.\u00a0 When I have less to do, it&#8217;s like the old brain goes on a slow boat to Bermuda.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, though, when I am very, very busy with multiple projects and hundreds of details, the whole thing springs a leak.\u00a0 Multiple leaks.\u00a0 Things start slipping through the cracks, and the cracks\u2014well, they start to resemble the proverbial sieve.\u00a0 Then, when I have less to do, a single-minded purpose, that one thing can become nearly an obsession.<\/p>\n<p>An odd tightrope.<\/p>\n<p>Some days, you over-balance in one direction; some days, it&#8217;s the other.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always had a really good memory.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a bit disconcerting when this kind of thing happens.\u00a0 As I get older, too, the occasional missed connection gets more worrying.\u00a0 <em>Is this a trend<\/em>? I wonder.<\/p>\n<p>I think I&#8217;ll spend part of today learning a poem or something.<\/p>\n<p>Memory is a muscle, too.<\/p>\n<p>And I like roses. . .December or otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>(But first, I&#8217;m going back to bed.\u00a0 Later, &#8216;gators.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December.&#8221; ~J.
