{"id":2913,"date":"2013-05-31T03:00:35","date_gmt":"2013-05-31T07:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elainesmithwrites.com\/wp\/?p=2913"},"modified":"2014-02-09T15:05:07","modified_gmt":"2014-02-09T20:05:07","slug":"mind-mapping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elainesmithwrites.com\/wp\/2013\/05\/31\/mind-mapping\/","title":{"rendered":"Mind Mapping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #1c827a;\">A cartographer&#8217;s nightmare.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mind mapping is a brainstorming technique used by artists, advertisers, programmers and members of countless other disciplines.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a way to visualize connections among and between things.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a way to chart the flow of a process, of a story, of an idea.<\/p>\n<p>I like mind mapping and project management software.\u00a0 For a while now, I have been partial to Personal Brain software\u2014now, I guess, called just <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebrain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Brain<\/a>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a great way to tie together a lot of disparate items, allowing you to link to web pages, photographs and other files, notes, etc.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s fairly resource intensive, eating up your RAM and disk space, though, to say nothing of the overhead in maintaining it if you really want to use it well.<\/p>\n<p>Still, I like it\u2014if only for the pleasure of saying, &#8220;hold on a minute while I open up my brain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But I found a simpler, web-based mind mapping tool at <a href=\"https:\/\/bubbl.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">bubbl.us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s very easy to use with clear and simple directions.<\/p>\n<p>So, get on over there and start planning your next novel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A cartographer&#8217;s nightmare.
